Why Support Matters

Willpower was never the missing piece

What was your plan the last time? Cold turkey, or cutting back and hoping it held? Most people who arrive here have done both, more than once, and have concluded something is wrong with them. Usually what was wrong was that nothing was supporting the body while it went through the change.

Stopping a substance is a physical event, not only a decision. The body has been receiving something and stops receiving it, and withdrawal follows. Those feelings are real. With the right support they are manageable, and that is the entire premise of this treatment.

Acupuncture and traditional Chinese herbs have long been used across a wide range of conditions, including addiction. It is the combination of the two that most of our patients point to when they say this was the attempt that finally held.

What Is Included

The Kick the Habit package

Built as a week of concentrated support rather than a weekly appointment. Scroll through what comes with it.

Core

Unlimited acupuncture for a week

Not one appointment. As many as the week calls for, because the days that are hardest are not scheduled in advance and support that only shows up on Tuesday is not support.

Core

Seven days of herbal support

A herbal package selected for you and dispensed for the full week, so the days between appointments are covered rather than left to get through alone.

Included

Twenty percent off any therapy

Every a la carte treatment we offer is discounted during your active cessation weeks. Anything on the menu, whether that is massage for the tension or sauna for the restlessness.

Extend

Additional weeks available

If one week is not enough, further weeks of acupuncture can be added at a set rate. Ask about current pricing when you call, since packages are reviewed periodically.

What It Addresses

Five things that derail an attempt

Stress

Quitting is stressful physically and mentally, and stress is what most relapses are actually made of. Treatment aimed at the nervous system makes the cravings and the anxiety easier to sit with. More on that here.

Mood

Withdrawal brings irritability, mood swings, and for some people a genuine low. Herbal support selected by our herbalist can help take the edge off that stretch.

Detoxification

Most addictive substances introduce toxins, and quitting releases them. Acupuncture and herbal support assist that process and can reduce the headaches and fatigue that come with it.

Cravings

Certain herbs have a calming effect that helps reduce cravings, and ear acupuncture has a long history in recovery settings for the same reason.

Self-awareness

Quitting is not only breaking a physical dependency. It asks for a change in mindset, and part of that is learning to see a trigger coming rather than noticing it afterward.

The week between

Most programs support you in the room and leave you alone the rest of the time. Unlimited access for a week exists specifically to close that gap.

Please read this before you start

This is complementary support and it works alongside medical care rather than replacing it. If you are stopping alcohol, benzodiazepines, or any substance where withdrawal carries medical risk, that needs to happen under medical supervision. Talk to your physician before you begin, not after.

Herbal support is selected and dispensed by our herbalist after reviewing your full medication list, because herbs interact with prescription medicines and some of those interactions matter a great deal. Do not self-prescribe based on anything you read online, here or anywhere else. Bring your medications to your first appointment and we will build around them.

How We Work

Two practitioners, one plan

The acupuncture and the herbal side are not separate services here. Joseph A. D'Antona, DAOM is both a licensed acupuncturist and a licensed herbalist, which means the point work and the herbal formula are decided together rather than by two people who never speak.

That matters more in cessation than almost anywhere else, because what you need in week one is not what you need in week three, and a plan that cannot move with you is a plan you will abandon.

Your first appointment covers the history, the substance, what you have tried, what is going on around you, and what else you are being treated for. Nothing is prescribed before that conversation.

The Detox Side

Clearing what is left behind

The detox package runs a month and exists for the physical aftermath rather than the psychological one. Three colon hydrotherapy sessions, three ionic foot detoxes, and unlimited far infrared sauna across the month.

Patients tend to book it once the hardest week is behind them, when the goal shifts from getting through it to feeling like themselves again. It can also run alongside the cessation weeks if that suits you better. Read more about the full detox package or the wider detox program.

Both offices are open seven days a week, and benefits are verified before your first visit.

Common Questions

Questions we get asked

Does this replace a treatment program or my doctor?

No. This is complementary support that works alongside medical care, counselling, or a recovery program rather than instead of any of them. If you are stopping a substance where withdrawal carries medical risk, that needs medical supervision.

What does unlimited acupuncture actually mean?

You can come in as often as the week requires rather than being held to a set number of appointments. The hard days are not predictable, and the package is built around that reality.

Are the herbs safe with my medication?

That is exactly why they are dispensed by a licensed herbalist after reviewing your medication list rather than sold off a shelf. Herbs do interact with prescription medicines. Bring your full list to your first appointment.

What if one week is not enough?

Additional weeks of acupuncture can be added at a set rate, and the discount on other therapies continues through your active cessation weeks. Ask about current pricing when you call.

Is any of this covered by insurance?

Coverage depends on your plan and on what is being treated. Submit your details through our intake page and we will verify your benefits before your first visit.

Patient Reviews

What our patients say

★★★★★

Jennifer was fantastic, I was initially so nervous as it was my first colonic. But she made me feel super comfortable and informed and I'm glad she was assigned to me. Next time I come in I will book with her. She made my experience great!

★★★★★

I was anxious about what to expect. Lori M came out, introduced herself and patiently answered my barrage of questions. Very quickly, she put me at ease, explained the procedure and came quickly when needed.
