This is where herbal medicine earns its place alongside acupuncture. Point work does its job in the room. The formula keeps working on the same patterns through the days you are not here.
Take it as directed and notice what happens, including anything that surprises you. Sleep, digestion and energy are the usual first movers, and they are worth paying attention to.
Reviewed honestly
At your next visit your practitioner asks what changed and what did not. This is not a formality. What did not shift is as informative as what did, and it is what tells us whether the pattern was read correctly.
Tell us if you stopped taking it, or took it inconsistently, or did not like it. That is useful information and nobody is going to be annoyed about it.
Adjusted, and adjusted again
The formula changes based on how your body responded. Sometimes it is a small modification, sometimes a different direction entirely. Over a longer course it will change several times, and that is the treatment working rather than a sign it is not.
This is why herbal medicine is a relationship rather than a prescription, and why buying a fixed product online is a different thing wearing similar packaging.

Herbs interact with prescription medicines. Bring your full list, including supplements and anything you buy over the counter, to your first appointment. Tell us if you are pregnant or nursing, since many herbs are not suitable in either. Herbal medicine here is complementary and works alongside your physician's care rather than replacing it, and nothing you have been prescribed should be stopped or changed without speaking to the doctor who prescribed it.
