Far Infrared Sauna in Lindenhurst, NY
Light that heats you rather than the air around you. More tolerable than a traditional sauna, and it reaches further in.
What It Is
Not the sauna you are picturing
Traditional saunas heat the air, and you sit in it. The air has to get extremely hot before you do, which is why a lot of people find them unbearable within about four minutes and never go back.
An infrared sauna works the other way around. It uses light to heat your body directly rather than heating the room, so the air stays comfortable while you warm through. That single difference is why people who cannot tolerate a traditional sauna can usually sit in this one and enjoy it.
Because the heat is going into you rather than into the room, it penetrates further, reaching skin, muscle and deeper tissue rather than stopping at the surface. Patients sweat considerably more than they would in a traditional sauna at a temperature that feels significantly milder.
The Difference
Where the heat actually goes
Drag the handle across to compare. Left is a traditional sauna, right is infrared.
Traditional saunas heat the air and the warmth stops largely at the surface. Infrared heats you directly, so it reaches skin, muscle and deeper tissue while the room itself stays comfortable.
Why Patients Book It
Four reasons that come up most
Sweating, properly
Sweating is one of the ways the body clears waste, and an infrared session raises core temperature enough to produce considerably more of it than a traditional sauna does. That is the whole detox argument and we would rather state it plainly than dress it up.
Pain and stiffness
Infrared heat penetrates into tissue, dilating blood vessels and increasing circulation, which is what patients report easing muscle and joint stiffness. The most common reason it gets added to a pain management plan.
Skin
Increased blood flow to the surface delivers more oxygen and nutrients to the skin, and deep sweating helps clear pores. Patients describe skin looking clearer and brighter, particularly with regular use.
Stress
A warm, quiet room with nothing required of you. The body releases endorphins during a session, and most people describe feeling noticeably calmer afterwards than they did walking in.
Where stress rather than recovery is the main reason, reiki and massage therapy address it more directly. A lot of patients run sauna alongside both.
The Practical Case
The easiest thing on the detox menu
Nothing is required of you. No preparation, no diet beforehand, no recovery afterwards. You sit in a warm room and then you leave, which makes it the most straightforward starting point in this category by a distance.
It is also the one people keep. Colon hydrotherapy and foot detox tend to be booked in blocks, and sauna is what continues afterwards because it fits into a week without asking for anything.
The detox package includes unlimited far infrared sauna for a month alongside colon hydrotherapy and ionic foot detox, which is worth a look if you expect to use it more than occasionally.
Your Session
What to bring and what to expect
Drink water first
Arrive hydrated rather than trying to catch up afterwards. You will sweat a good deal more than you expect. The alkaline water bar is on site if you want it.
Go at your own pace
Start with a shorter session and build up rather than sitting through your limit on the first visit. Leave the moment you feel lightheaded or unwell. Nobody is timing you.
Rehydrate afterwards
Keep drinking after you finish, and give yourself a few minutes before heading straight back out. Most people feel warm, loose and considerably calmer than when they arrived.
Heat is not right for everyone
Speak with your physician before using a sauna if you have a heart condition, blood pressure that is treated or unstable, a kidney condition, or if you are pregnant. Some medications affect how your body handles heat or how much you sweat, so tell us what you take. Do not use a sauna after drinking alcohol.
Leave the sauna if you feel dizzy, nauseated or unwell at any point, and drink water. Far infrared sauna is complementary care that works alongside your physician rather than replacing them, and it is not a treatment for any medical condition. Individual results vary.
Common Questions
Questions we get asked
How is this different from a regular sauna?
A traditional sauna heats the air around you with steam or hot air. An infrared sauna uses light to heat your body directly, so it penetrates further into skin, muscle and tissue while the room itself stays at a more comfortable temperature.
I cannot tolerate normal saunas. Will this be different?
Usually, yes. Because the air is not superheated, most people who find traditional saunas overwhelming can sit comfortably in an infrared one and still sweat considerably more than they would elsewhere.
How often can I use it?
That depends on you and how you respond. Start with shorter, less frequent sessions and build from there. The detox package includes unlimited sauna for a month, which suits patients who want to use it regularly.
What should I wear and bring?
Something comfortable, and water. Arrive hydrated and keep drinking afterwards. Call the front desk on 631-309-2242 if you want to know anything else about the setup before you come in.
Is far infrared sauna covered by insurance?
Coverage depends on your plan and what is being treated. Submit your details through our intake and insurance page and we will verify benefits before your first visit.

What runs alongside this
Sauna is the least demanding thing in this category, which is why it pairs with almost everything. It follows colon hydrotherapy and ionic foot detox in a detox month, and it sits well after massage or acupuncture when the body is already loosened up.
If you expect to use it more than a handful of times, look at the package before booking sessions one at a time.
