Holistic Medicine in Lindenhurst, NY
Care that treats the person rather than the complaint. Allergy elimination, thermography, addiction support, pain management and pregnancy care, coordinated under one roof since 2004.
What It Means Here
Holistic is a method, not a mood
Holistic medicine addresses the physical, emotional and spiritual sides of what you are dealing with rather than the symptom that brought you in. That sounds abstract until you sit through a first appointment and notice how much of it is spent on history before anything gets treated.
In practice it means we look for what is driving a problem, not just what it is producing. Allergies that flare every spring, pain that returns three weeks after every treatment, energy that never quite comes back. Those are patterns, and patterns respond to different questions than symptoms do.
The Balance Health and Wellness Center has worked this way since 2004, under Joseph A. D'Antona, DAOM, who is a licensed acupuncturist, herbalist and massage therapist as well as a certified NAET practitioner. More than twenty treatments run under one roof here, which is what allows a plan to be coordinated rather than scattered across four offices.
Our Holistic Medicine Services
Five ways this shows up
Each of these is a treatment in its own right. Most patients end up using more than one.
Allergy Elimination (NAET)
The NAET technique addresses allergic response without medication, delivered by a certified practitioner. This is the treatment patients most often arrive having never heard of and leave recommending.
Learn more →Thermography Screening
Non-invasive thermal imaging used for preventive health monitoring. No radiation, no compression, and useful for tracking change over time rather than catching something once.
Learn more →Holistic Addiction Treatment
Acupuncture-based support for recovery and cessation, working alongside whatever else you have in place. Ear protocols have a long history in this setting for good reason.
Learn more →Holistic Pain Management
For pain that has stopped being a body-part problem and become a whole-life one. This is the wider plan that holds several treatments together rather than a single modality.
Learn more →Pregnancy and Postpartum Care
Support through pregnancy and the months after, when a lot of conventional care stops paying attention and the demands on the body do not.
Learn more →Everything Else We Offer
Holistic medicine here sits alongside acupuncture, massage, reiki, herbal medicine and detox. The full menu runs to more than twenty treatments across two offices.

What a holistic plan actually looks like
Four stages, in order. Step through them.
The history, at length
What brought you in, how long it has been going on, what you have already tried, what changed recently, and what else is happening in your life that might be feeding it. This part is longer than most people expect, and it is where the plan is actually decided. Nothing is treated before it is understood.
Looking past the complaint
Two people arriving with the same symptom often need different treatments, because the thing driving it is different. We look at digestion, sleep, stress and energy alongside whatever you came in for, because those systems talk to each other and treating one in isolation tends not to hold.
A plan that can be layered
Because more than twenty treatments run under one roof, your plan can combine them. Acupuncture with herbal support. Thermography for monitoring alongside treatment for the thing being monitored. NAET running in parallel with everything else. One team, one set of notes, no repeating yourself at three different desks.
Adjusting as you respond
Holistic treatment is cumulative rather than immediate, so the plan is reviewed as your body responds rather than followed to the letter. If something is not working we say so and change it, and if a different treatment would serve you better we will tell you that too. Individual results vary.
Why Patients Choose Us
Twenty years of this on Long Island
Credentials that are checkable
A doctorate in acupuncture and Oriental medicine, New York State licensure, and NAET certification. Holistic does not have to mean unqualified, and here it does not.
Everything under one roof
More than twenty treatments across two offices means a plan can be built rather than referred out. That is the practical difference between coordinated care and a stack of appointments.
Insurance accepted
Many treatments are covered and benefits are verified before your first visit, so you know what applies before you sit down rather than after.
The practice has been voted best on Long Island for acupuncture and massage therapy every year since 2011, and patients travel from across the Island and beyond for it. You can read more about the practice or start with acupuncture and herbal medicine, which underpin most of what happens here.
Common Questions
Questions we get asked
What is holistic medicine?
An approach that treats the whole person rather than an isolated symptom, considering the physical, emotional and spiritual sides of a problem and looking for what is driving it. In practice it means longer histories, plans built around the individual, and treatments that are combined rather than used one at a time.
Does holistic medicine replace my doctor?
No. Everything here is complementary and works alongside conventional medical care rather than instead of it. Keep taking anything you have been prescribed and bring the list to your first visit so we can plan around it.
Which treatment should I start with?
That is what the first appointment decides. Most patients arrive with a symptom rather than a treatment in mind, which is the right way round. Call and the front desk will help you work out where to begin before anything is booked.
Is holistic medicine covered by insurance?
Many of our treatments are covered and it depends on your plan and what is being treated. Submit your details through our intake page and we verify benefits before your first visit.
Where are you located?
Our main center is at 672 N Wellwood Ave, Suite 2 in Lindenhurst, NY, and our North Shore office is at 99 Main St in Kings Park, NY. Both are open seven days a week.
