Holistic Wellness for West Islip, NY
A hamlet with a hospital in the middle of it knows the difference between evidence and marketing. So here is what we treat, and what we do not claim.
West Islip Patients
You are a harder audience, and that is fine
A significant number of West Islip households have somebody working in healthcare. Nurses, techs, aides, therapists, physicians. When those patients call us, the first question is usually some version of what the actual evidence is, and it is asked politely but it is asked.
That is a reasonable question and we would rather answer it than talk around it. Everything here is complementary care. It works alongside medical treatment rather than replacing it, nothing is presented as a cure, and if what you describe needs a physician rather than us, the front desk will tell you so on the phone.
What we do have is more than twenty treatments under one roof, a practice that has run since 2004, and a willingness to say where the limits are. Which for this hamlet is probably the more useful pitch.
Straight Answers
What it is for, and what it is not
Pick a treatment. Both columns, every time.
Pain, migraines, stress and sleep
Point work for musculoskeletal pain, headaches, anxiety and sleep, plus fertility support and pregnancy care. Delivered by a licensed New York acupuncturist holding a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree. It can run in the same appointment as massage or Active Release Therapy rather than as a separate visit.
It is not a replacement for anything
We do not present acupuncture as a cure for any condition, and nothing here is a reason to stop or change medication your physician has prescribed. Individual results vary. If your symptoms need investigating rather than treating, that is a conversation for your doctor first.
Every treatment on the site carries the same framing. Nothing is sold as a substitute for medical care.

Twelve Hour Shifts
The back you got from lifting somebody else
Patient handling injuries are their own category. Lower backs and shoulders, usually from a single awkward transfer that happened months ago and never fully settled, on top of twelve hours a day of standing on hard floors.
The pattern we see most from this group is an old acute injury sitting underneath a layer of accumulated restriction, which is exactly what Active Release Therapy is built for. Pressure applied while you move the affected part, which reaches scar tissue that static work does not.
The second half is harder to book for. Long stretches of other people's emergencies leave a nervous system that does not switch off on schedule, and that is not a character flaw. Reiki and far infrared sauna both ask nothing of you, which matters after a run of nights.

Common Questions
Questions from West Islip
I work in healthcare and I am sceptical. Is that a problem?
No, and you would not be the first. Everything here is complementary care that sits alongside medical treatment. You are not asked to believe anything, and if what you describe needs investigating rather than treating we will say so.
Will this interfere with what I am already taking?
Bring your full medication list to the first appointment, including supplements. It matters most for herbal medicine, where nothing is dispensed until a licensed herbalist has reviewed what you take.
I finish at seven. Is anything available?
Weekdays run until eight in the evening and both weekend days until five, seven days a week including holidays. Tell the front desk what your rotation looks like and they will book around it.
What should I book for a lifting injury that never healed?
Usually Active Release Therapy, which addresses scar tissue and adhesion specifically. Call 631-309-2242 and describe what happened and when, because how long ago it was changes the answer.
Do you take my insurance?
We accept all major insurances and verify your specific coverage before your first visit. Submit your details through our intake page and we will confirm what applies.
